Greetings! We have had a tremendous year until this point with various events such as Ugadi, Sankranthi and various community activities and we are very pleased to announce the following schedule of events to be organized during the summer and fall/Winter 2010. Harikatha by Smt. Jayanthi Savithri - July 18th Discourse of Sri Samavedam Sarma garu - August 1st GITA Picnic Eagle Creek Park - August 22nd ManaBadi Inauguration - September 18th
7th America Telugu Sahithi Sadassu - October 9 - 10 (2days)
Bathukamma/Dasara - October 16th
Deepavali - November 20th
Additional details for each of the aforementioned events will be shared in due course. GITA hopes to continue a showcase of our Telugu culture and tradition via various events and we sincerely appreciate your attendance, participation and continued support. |

Hyderabad-Indy Sister Cities |

City Of Indianapolis and City Of Hyderabad Become Sister Cities
As several of you may already know, City of Indianapolis and our own City Of Hyderabad have joined hand-in-hand to become sister Cities. This is an event of historic proportions as it is for the first time Hyderabad is entering into a sister city partnership with any City in the U.S. This is a moment we all should be proud of and cherish as it is being done for the first time in the U.S.
City of Indianapolis delegation led by our own Mayor Greg Ballard left for Hyderabad on April 23rd. Mayor was also joined by several members of our community to support Mayor and his staff and to witness the historic event. For the past several days, Indy delegation met with representatives of the Hyderabad Mayor's office and signed the pact among other things. The partnership that is going to facilitate development of bilateral relationship in social, cultural and economic areas between these two cities. This is very good news for us all and spells a beginning of a great new chapter.
After a successful trip, Indy delegation returned to Indianapolis on Sunday, May 2nd.
GITA would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all the GITA Community to join us at the airport to extend a warm welcome our mayor and the delegation and show our support and appreciation and to show what this partnership means to each and every one of us.
