GITA kick-started the year 2010 with spectacular festivities in celebration of Sankranthi.  Despite the bitter cold weather and the coincidence of an important game for our beloved Colts, faithful GITA members showed up in great numbers to celebrate our new GITA year.

 

WOW....quality, quality, quality!  The event was started with lively high quality performances from our local talent. Over seventy kids participated and showcased their talent in acts ranging from Annamacharya kirtans, to Bollywood Medleys, to various traditional and filmi dances. GITA has done a wonderful job of presenting the avenue to our younger generation to bring out the best in them and the young performers certainly kept their end of the bargain with stunning performances. 

 

For the first time ever, GITA took the event to the next level by inviting performers from other regional and cultural Indian associations. The goal was to promote harmony and increased mutual respect and admiration towards other regional and traditional entities.  Kerala and Gujarathi dances were marvelously performed by young and talented performers and were liked and enjoyed by one and all.

 

These wonderful performances were followed by live music by Praveen Jaligama and group to the crowd's delight. Also, thanks to a fabulous job by the food committee.  Just the thought of the delicious food served at this event is enticing many to eagerly await the next GITA event!  All in all, the event was a great success.  GITA 2010 president, Dr. Ajay Ponugoti and his team encouraged continually greater participation to further elevate the scale of the upcoming evnets. He captivated the audience with his statement, "If you embrace GITA, then GITA will embrace you!" This was the first event of the year for the GITA Committee 2010 yet the whole committee has done a tremendous job in organizing the event.  GITA as an organization reviews various elements of the past events and strives to improve the quality of the product put forth. This is only possible with your continued support and help.

We looked into altering the membership fee structure to accommodate for free entry to all GITA events for all the members of GITA. After a thorough review by GITA executive committee, we have decided to continue the current membership and event fee structure.
  • Platinum Membership: $250/year (benefits include free entry to all GITA events for immediate family members and preferred seating at any banquet style events)
  • Gold Membership: $100/year (1/2 off entry fee to all GITA events (no exceptions) for adults and  kids)
  • Silver Family: $50/year (discounted member price for event fees)
  • Silver Single: $25/year (discounted member price for event fees)
We thank all of you members for your support and hope to see you back in 2010. To all non-members, we appreciate your participation and encourage you to consider joining as members.
